This letter is from Ralph Masis, yoeman on the USS Lexington, to his parents. Masis was seriously wounded when a kamikaze slammed into the Lexington, ironically on Nov. 5, 1944, the day after this letter was postmarked. Submitted by his nephew, Steve Hatchett:
